We have all heard the proverb, “It takes a village to raise a child” or “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day; teach a man to fish and you feed him for life”. These are moving messages that not only illustrate the importance of community and involvement but also emphasize the importance of individuals acting for the betterment of society as a whole.
CAIS believes in a culture of community and shared success. For our team, that means demonstrating a collaborative philosophy that is steeped in civic responsibility and a spirit of entrepreneurship. We have chosen to manifest that philosophy outside of CAIS by dedicating resources to select non-profit organizations that have the potential for outsized social impact through a philanthropic initiative known as CAIS Vision. CAIS Vision harnesses the firm’s resources and network to do our part in building a better world. We are proud that the past several months have been our busiest ever supporting two of our initiatives: Endeavor Global and the Walkabout Foundation. Endeavor Global works to catalyze long-term economic growth by selecting, mentoring, and accelerating the best high-impact entrepreneurs worldwide. Walkabout Foundation focuses on funding research to find a cure for paralysis and donating wheelchairs to people in need around the world.
Fred Kauber, CAIS Managing Director & CTO, has aligned his personal goal of running 50 marathons in 50 states as well as all 6 World Marathon Majors with an initiative to raise awareness and funds for the Walkabout Foundation. Fred celebrated a major milestone of his journey by running the Chicago marathon in October as his tenth state marathon and second World Marathon Major. This accomplishment officially qualifies him for membership into the 50 States Marathon Club, which is the organization that will ultimately certify completion of Fred’s 50 state goal. “What started as a personal fitness journey has transformed into a means to empower the everyday journeys of those in need around the world”, said Fred Kauber.
Team CAIS entered November strong with Fred running his fourth consecutive New York City marathon, overall his fourteenth marathon. Fred was joined by Brendan Cuddihy, Vice President Business Development, running his second marathon and Edward Mamedov, Technology Associate, running his first ever marathon. “Hearing the crowds cheer me on as I ran for a cause was a once in a lifetime experience. I will never forget it”, said Edward Mamedov. To date, through Fred’s efforts and matching donations from CAIS, we have raised $11,358 which has built 37 wheelchairs that have been distributed around the world.
November also brought the opportunity to celebrate global entrepreneurship with Endeavor Global at their annual Gala as they honored Steve Case. This year’s theme, “Go Big AND Go Home”, commemorated Endeavor’s expansion in the US after all of their success abroad. “It is inspiring to see so many young entrepreneurs from around the world make such significant contributions back to their communities”, said Matt Brown, Founder and CEO of CAIS and a member of the global board of directors for Endeavor. “CAIS is committed to social change and by partnering with organizations like Endeavor Global and the Walkabout Foundation we are able to expand that change far beyond our own community”, continues Mr. Brown.
We believe the actions we take today to support both our local and global communities will have an impact on future generations. We are proud of our ongoing philanthropic efforts and we invite you to join us in our mission.
