Matt Brown is the Founder, CEO, and Chairman of CAIS. He has spent over 30 years at the intersection of wealth management, alternative investments, and platform design. He began his career as a financial advisor at Shearson Lehman Brothers and Smith Barney. In 2009, Matt founded CAIS, the first truly open marketplace for alternative investments, where financial advisors and asset managers can engage and transact directly on a massive scale. Financial advisors, the professionals we designate to oversee our economic futures, do not have the same access to alternative investments in comparison to large institutions. CAIS is changing that. Matt believes entrepreneurship is the major driver of economic and social change. He’s spent the better part of two decades working with Endeavor, the world’s leading organization for high impact entrepreneurs. During his tenure, he had the opportunity to mentor dozens of entrepreneurs from around the world, including Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East. Matt is honored to have been on Endeavor’s South African and Turkish Boards which ultimately led to a position on the Global Board of Directors. The experience deepened his belief that helping entrepreneurs build and scale their businesses promotes economic growth and prosperity. Michelle Browning is the Director of Business Development for CAIS IQ. Michelle has been in the financial services industry for over 20 years with 15 years of experience in alternative investments. Prior to CAIS, she worked at Merrill Lynch, ATEL Securities, LEAF Financial Corporation, W. P. Carey, AI Insight and Alternative Investment Exchange. Chris heads the Operations team and is responsible for platform funds and investment product operations, including onboarding, integration of workflows, reporting and advisor/manager relations. Chris also chairs the CAIS Operational Risk Management Committee. He has over 20 years of operational experience in alternative investment firms, including Mizuho, Vegasoul, Traxis Partners, and R. Brendan Cuddihy is the Chief Operating Officer at CAIS and is responsible for overseeing Fund Operations, Client Service, and Marketing teams. Brendan is responsible for funds and investment product operations, including onboarding, integration of workflows, reporting, and investor/manager relations. In addition, he is responsible for overseeing the development and delivery of all marketing activities, including product launches, events, messaging, and thematic campaigns. He has over 8 years of experience in the asset management and financial services industry, having worked at US Bancorp and Moody’s Corporation. Penny DeFrank serves on our executive committee as our Managing Director of People Experience, leading the Talent Acquisition, People Operations and Talent Development teams. She has deep expertise in building and guiding the talent of high-growth tech companies—with a focus on fostering a culture where employees can do their best work. Penny’s former employers were made up of a series of early- to mid-stage, high-growth companies across fintech, cyber security and e-commerce, including Corelight, Marqeta, Monitise, White Hat Security and RichRelevance. Prior to her career in tech, Penny enjoyed more than 10 years at McKinsey & Company where she led all non-consulting operations across four locations on the west coast. Penny holds a BS in Information Systems Management and a Master’s in Human Resources and Organization Development, both from the University of San Francisco.

Abby Salameh serves as CAIS’ Chief Marketing Officer and Managing Director, CAIS IQ, where she leads the firm’s brand and media strategy, corporate communications, channel marketing, conferences/events and the CAIS IQ business unit. Ms. Salameh has over 20 years of experience in the independent wealth ecosystem. Before joining CAIS, she served as Hightower’s Chief Marketing Officer, taking the firm through a strategic rebrand that helped support the transformation of the firm from a recruiter of ex-wirehouse advisors into a serial acquirer of RIAs.

Prior to that, Ms. Salameh was CMO at Private Advisor Group, a $20 billion RIA, where she spent six years creating top-line solutions for independent advisors and driving both organic and inorganic growth. She has also previously held leadership positions at Fusion Advisor Network, where she successfully led the company’s sale to NFP, and was Head of Marketing for Institutional Services at TD Ameritrade and TD Waterhouse Institutional Services. Ms. Salameh began her career at Sanford C. Bernstein before moving on to become a founding member of the team that launched InvestmentNews.

He also served as Head of Strategy and Corporate Development in the period after Goldman Sachs’ IPO, assisting the Executive Office and division leaders to create and execute a strategy to build out Goldman Sachs’ global footprint. For the final 10 years of his Goldman Sachs tenure, Mr. Berlinski had global responsibility for coverage of the firm’s financial sponsor and hedge fund clients, overseeing a dramatic increase in revenue from the business and working alongside Goldman Sachs’ Merchant Banking team on co-investment opportunities in transactions involving the firm’s clients.

Mr. Berlinski has led or executed over 250 transactions in financial services across all subsectors, including numerous strategic acquisitions by Goldman Sachs itself. Mr. Berlinski was also a member of the Operating Committee and the Compensation Committee during his time at the firm. Todd Gilbert is a Principal at Eldridge, which he joined at its inception in 2015. In his past, Andy has helped build two high-value, high-profile companies – Fortigent and Lydian Wealth Management. Fortigent was a leading Turnkey Asset Management Program (TAMP) focusing on advisors with high-net-worth practices. With approximately $70 billion of assets under advisement on its platform, Fortigent was sold to LPL Financial in April 2012. Lydian was an RIA specializing in wealth management solutions to the ultra-high-net worth community. With over $8 billion of assets and an average client size of approximately $45 million, LWM was sold to CitiNational Bank of Los Angeles in 2007 ​to spearhead the bank’s wealth management practice.

Andy serves as a member of the Board of Advisors of Vestigo Ventures, a venture capital firm launched to fund early-stage companies offering disruptive innovations in financial technology services and Silver Lane Advisors, a premier investment bank focused exclusively on the financial services industry.
