CAIS, a New York-based alternative investment platform, is in talks with potential targets to add technology stacks, said CEO Matt Brown. CAIS would look at both bolt-on opportunities that are sub-USD 100m and transformational deals that are up to USD 500m in enterprise value, Brown said. It could use equity or debt to finance deals, depending on the profile of targets, he added.

It welcomes approaches from potential investors in future rounds, he noted. Ideal targets would bring tech that automates the workflow in the front, middle and back offices, for investment advisors and managers, Brown explained. CAIS is also interested in developers of new technology infrastructure such as those leveraging blockchain or tokenization, he added. Targets can also operate outside of the traditional alternative investment verticals, Brown said. A new area of interest, for instance, is private placement for private companies that are at a pre-IPO or earlier stage, he added.

CAIS also plans to expand its presence in the Asia Pacific through its base in Sydney and would further grow in the Middle East, Europe and Latin America, he added.
